Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
Apathy washes over Jack. "Not even the slightest hint of intrigue. Come on friends, let's strut around the city so the peasants can feel safe." He says not quite keeping the venom out of the last two words.

Shathys puts a hand on Jack's shoulder. "Thank you for your time mayor."

"He most definitely did not leave by the west road" Shara whispers to the others.

"There is no west road, that's probably why. The south east road is likely the fastest way."

"Women and sense of direction you know" Shara says with a smile. "But it might have something to do with that."

You spend the next few hours sauntering through Sandpoint, enjoying the fine weather and cursing the lack of intrigue and conspiracies. The villagers all seem friendly, and the time passes swiftly. As evening approaches, you find yourself back at The Rusty Dragon, where Shalelu Andosana - the elf ranger - promised to meet you for dinner.

"Oh Honey, i'm home!" Shathys calls to Ameiko sarcastically, striding through the doorway.

Shalelu is sitting at a table with three members of the town guard. They're engaged in quiet discussion and are currently ignoring you. At the sound of your voices, Ameiko enters the room from the kitchen door.
'Hello,' she says with a smile. 'Is it me you're looking for?'

'Guess not,' Ameiko mutters and returns through the kitchen door. The three guardsmen depart after shaking Shalelu's hand. She motions for you to join her.

Bethana Corwin - the elderly halfling maid - arrives with drinks and takes your orders for dinner.
'So,' Shalelu says, sipping her ale. 'Tell me about the raid.'

Jack explains in detail, putting significance on the goblin retreat once they had what they presumably came for - the corpse.

Dinner arrives while you explain the details of the goblin raid. Shalelu listens in silence, and when you're done she nods slowly. 'I see,' she says. 'I wonder who's taken charge of the goblins. And why would they steal the bones of a dead priest? I don't like it. Not one bit.'
Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
"Well we can agree on that.." Shara says, in between chomping on various food items.

Shathys, not hungry at the moment, sits with his hands folded across his chest.
"So, what is our next move?" Shathys asks bluntly.

"Shalelu, let's say you would like to go to Magnimar. Which way would be the fastest? The north, the east or the south-east? Is it possible to travel to Magnimar quickly through the terrain without roads?", Morbus asks while he looks out of a window nearby, thinking that some creature might exist in an entirely different universe with different dimensions and phenomena (such as exam i social studies) and that this creature might have something to do with Morbus' lack of action.

'East or south-east,' Shalelu says, shrugging. 'Wouldn't really make a difference. And yes, I suppose that it's possible to travel relatively quickly even if you avoided the roads. Not sure why you'd want to, though. Why do you ask?'
Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
I just thought it could be nice for a walk and Magnimar sounded like an interesting place. Then again, I didn't want to walk for too long, so I just thought it would be nice to know, which way would be the fastest.

Shalelu clearly isn't convinced. 'Magnimar is about a day away on horseback. Significantly longer on foot.'
Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
'Regardless, I got the sense that you were itchin' to get out and kill some goblins. If you're planning on heading into the Hinterlands, there are a few things you might want to know. If you're interested, that is.'
Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
Jack's attention wavered when the warforged started talking but the talk of killing goblins caught his attention again.
"Pray do tell."

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
'There are five major goblin tribes in the region,' Andosana says. 'The closest to Sandpoint are the Birdcruncher goblins that live in caves along the western edge of the Devil’s Platter. Of the five tribes, these are the least aggressive.
To the south are the Licktoad goblins of the Brinestump Marsh. Excellent swimmers, but not much good in a straight up fight. Like rats, they scurry and hide in the marshes.
East are the Seven Tooth goblins of Shank’s Wood, goblins who’ve secured a place for themselves by raiding Sandpoint’s junkyard and rebuilding the stolen refuse into armor and weapons. And before you ask, yes, we've tried to capture one of the scavengers, but they only come at night, and they're slippery little buggers.
Further east are the Mosswood goblins. The largest tribe, but one held back by feuding families within their own ranks.
And finally, there are the Thistletop goblins, who live on the Nettlewood coast atop a small island that some say holds a passing resemblance to a decapitated head.
Following me so far? Questions?'

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
"Considering someone managed to gain control of the goblins, which of the tribes is the most dangerous? Mosswood may hold the greater numbers but the Birdcrunchers may hold a better position to attack. Also, do we know which of the tribes attacked Sandpoint?"
