"Jack! What happened? What in the nine hells is going on?" Shara is confused and scared.

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
Jack breathes quick shallow breaths and mutters: "Ioun damn it, more ghosts. I liked the other room more." He slowly stands up and checks his stomach.
"It was nothing... but these dark energies are not to be trifled with. We should check the other room, specifically the book, for clues as to what in the nine hells is going on here."

Jack very slowly opens the first door again, readying a mental defence if need be.

Nothing is different from the first time you opened the door.

A strange glint is in Jack's eye.
"Forbidden knowledge." he whispers, slowly opening the book.

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
The book feels cold and clammy to the touch, but it opens with no ill effects. Each page is filled with the same language as the writing in the first room, but these are crudely written in either red ink or blood.
Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
"Damn it..." He closes the book again and after a while he puts it in his bags. "Might be important later." He explains and looks around the place for anything else interesting.

You receive 1 (one): ANCIENT TOME WRITTEN IN BLOOD AND BOUND IN HUMAN SKIN.
You find nothing else of interest.

"Just so you know, that is the creepiest thing I've ever seen."
Shathys keeps away from Jack, slightly mortified.

"Yes, I've seen some pretty morbid stuff in my time but this one takes the prize. But it's pretty interesting isn't it?" Jack says and looks at his bags. "Well, I'm done here. Want to move on to the staircase?"

"Indeed, let's make our way there."

At the end of the corridor is a spiral staircase that descends further down. It's dark.

The first deity that comes to mind is the Raven Queen, the goddess of death, fate and winter. But you also know that tongue- and eye-removal, ghosts and tomes bound in human skin is not her style. She holds dominion over death itself, not those who have died.

Shathys takes his torch from the corner where the girl was, The flame is sputtering and giving forth a feeble light but it will have to do.
"Well Gentleman and Lady, Shall we?"

Shathys sighs heavily. Preparing himself for anything he might see at the bottom. IF they ever reach the bottom.
"Let's go." Shathys says readily, and begins the descent into darkness.

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
You walk down the dark stairs for a long while, the walls growing increasingly damp, as if there's a large body of water somewhere nearby. Suddenly Jack spots a door-sized and door-shaped patch of slightly differently colored stone in the wall.
Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
"Hang on. I think I see a hidden door of some description." Jack lays his hand on the wall, nudging it forward slightly.
