"I don't see any ghosts." Jack looks around and pulls out his tweezers and a magnifying glass.

"Friends, a quick glance won't yield good results. But if we stay here for too long it will be high tide again and I don't know when we'll be able to get back."

[SigneGT]

"Let's sit down and enjoy the weather for a bit then, it might clear our heads, might summon a mad ghost too" Shara smiles at the two others. She sits down on the grass, faces the sun and closes her eyes for about 20 seconds.

[Francis]

"The way I see it we have nothing better to do in the town, and I feel we can hold our own against ghosts and ghoulies. We'll stay." Shathys reaches into his pocket and pulls out some string, and starts to form a cats cradle idly.

Jack shrugs and starts a thorough search of the place.

[Admin]

After a few hours of shifting through ashen rubble, you find a small stone box hidden beneath a loose stone tile. It is untouched by the fire, and strange runes are carved into the lid. There doesn't appear to be a lock on it.

[SigneGT]

"Do you think we should open it?" Shara says with much doubt in her voice. "From what i know, magically looking boxes usually aren't a good idea".

Shara examines the box and tries to remember everything she knows about magic artifacts.

Arcana check: You don't recognize any of the runes, but you do get the sense that the box is very, very old, and that the runes are even older.

"You know... opening it is fairly tempting. Can anyone see if it's trapped?"

[Francis]

"Aye."

Shathys carefully holds the box, checking for any potential traps or switches that may set something off.

"I have no idea what any of these runes mean" Shara says with a shrug. "But from what i can tell, this box must be really really old". She takes a step back from the box, as if she's scared of something. "I'm not sure what to do with it".

[Admin]

Thievery check: There are no traps on the box. Magical or otherwise.

[Francis]

"Well, you live and learn." Shathys opens the box and tosses in Jack's direction in one swift movement.

[Admin]

As the stone box sails through the air, an almost fluid blackness pours out of its insides. The box itself seems to turn inside out, its sides growing and twisting in a way that hurts your brain when you look at it. From each corner of the box - now easily 2 meters across - a dark, tendril shoots into the ground. It hangs in the air for a moment before slamming into the ground with a sickening crunch.

Only a few inches of the box is still above ground. Adorning the top are two thick handles set into a pair of door-like stone slabs.

[Francis]

"Jack, what did you do?" Shathys asks loudly.

[Le kek]

"Is that... a door?"
Jack raises an eyebrow.
"Why would the murder guy keep a magic door hidden in his house? I smell heresy."

[Francis]

"To...get in and out, I suppose?" Shathys chuckles, rather proud of himself.

[SigneGT]

"I vote, since we probably already signed our own deathsentence, that we go through this really scary door" Shara says. Her eyes are dark grey, and you can definitely feel the fear. "But maybe we should check it first, see if we can find out anything about it".

She examines the door closely.

"You're the very epitome of hilarity." Jack says dryly to shathys.

[Admin]

Ancient runes cover the doors, and even those of you not trained in the arcane can feel powerful magic emanating from them.

[SigneGT]

Shara touches the door and immediately pulls back her hand as if she'd burned it. "More magic.. Great" Shara says and you can hear the sarcasm in her voice. "Real adventurers would probably be in there already, dead or alive, maybe we should try. What do you think?" She looks at the others.

[Francis]

Shathys mockingly half-bows to Jack. "One of my many titles, though it doesn't make much of a story where I'm from, though perhaps one day I will share this tale with you."

Shathys points to his eye where his scar becomes an intricate design.

Shathys regards Shara for a moment, "I feel that we should see what is on the other side. I'm feeling adventurous so unless there are objections, I'll go first."

[Le kek]

Jack slowly creeps towards the door and opens it very slightly, peeking inside.

[Admin]

It's too dark to see anything.
