You find no traps. But the faint sound of a crying child comes from a part of the room still covered in darkness.

"Hey... guys..." Jack whispers.
"Guys... listen."
"....can you hear that?"

"Yes. I've also come to the conclusion that it's time we leave."
Shathys drops his Spiked Chain lower to the ground to extend it's reach, though unsure that it can harm supernatural beings it makes him feel better.
"Now."

"No. We must stay and see this through, it's imperative to the village's survival and perhaps ours in the long run." Jack whispers, torchlight slightly reflects in his fake eye.

Shathys sighs heavily, and begins to laugh, an almost maniac laughter that turns into a wolfish grin.
"Let's make ourselves known then."
Shathys roars, loud enough to echo through the chamber and throws his torch towards the dark corner, and begins to twirl his Spiked chain, the blade seems almost alive, dancing in his hand as it strikes the floor and the statue, causing sparks to fly with every strike.

Your torch rolls to a stop a few yards away from a small figure huddled up against the wall. A little girl in a red dress, it seems, crying and hiding her face behind her hands and her long, raven-black hair. She does not react to your presence.

Shara gasps and starts shivering a bit. She's not exactly comfortable with the situation, but in the end her humanity gets the better of her.
She raises her voice a little bit and looks at the little girl "Hello there, are you okay?"
In her mind she desperately prays that she didn't just sign her own death sentence.

The girl slowly gets to her feet and turns towards Shara. She stands there for a moment, her head cocked to one side. Then she begins walking towards Shara with strange, jerky motions, her face still hidden.

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
As much as she wants to get the hell out of there, Shara stands still, clenching her fists in fear. She bites her lip, hard enough for a little blooddrop to run down her chin.
The thought from before about her doom is still very much alive in her head, but she thinks to herself "Maybe it is just a sad child, please let it be a sad child in need of help, i don't want to die!".
"I don't have any salt!" Shara mumbles at Jack. "Maybe it's not that bad, maybe we wont die".

You seem to hear the faint, distant sound of fluttering wings.
Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
Shathys moves forward, striking the ground in front of the figure, sending a shower of sparks upwards.
"Don't move closer, beast." Shathys growls
"Jack, Shara, be ready for anything."

Jack fishes his holy symbol of Ioun forth and with a muttered word it starts shining in the general direction of the little girl.

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
The light flows over the girl as if reflected from water. Where it touches her, the figure of the girl disappears, and something altogether more disturbing is revealed. Black feathers, beaks and talons are tangled together as a mockery of a human body. Dozens of small, black eyes stare at you like onyx pearls. She continues her slow march towards Shara.

"That's enough." Shathys growls, wrapping the chain around his arm, he takes a step back to balance himself and throws the blade at the demon, The wicked edge flying straight and true.

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
The girl makes no move to evade the attack, and the end of the spiked chain buries itself in her chest. With a sob and the wet sound of ripping flesh, the girl bursts apart into a cloud of ravens with long, wicked beaks. For a few terrifying moments, you are all covered in black, beating wings and scratching talons. Then, as suddenly as they appeared, they're gone.
Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
Shara gasps, takes a closer look and mumbles "At least it's not a creepy little child anymore" with sarcasm so explicit you can almost reach out and grab it.

Shathys reaches for his blade, looking for any marks, in disbelief of what he just saw.
"Now what do we do..."
"Now what do we do..."

"They seek to scare us, to keep us away from whatever is hidden in here. That or there's an entity in this realm that has messed up whatever dimension we're in." Jack looks thoughtful.
"What we just saw didn't seem too dangerous, let's just move on and keep our eyes peeled."

Shathys sheaths his chain, still quite shaken.
"Then, onwards and upwards, I can hope that they all fall as easily as the last but I doubt that will be the case."

Two stone doors lead out of the room. One to the west and one east.
Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
"Uh... Any preference?" Jack asks, occasionally looking back at the statue.
