It occurs to you that it is almost unheard of for goblins to attack guarded settlements, let alone in such numbers. The singing and screeching is typical goblin behavior, however.

Something must have egged them on. Or someone." He let the thought hang in the air for a moment. "Clearly with malicious intent." He lighted up like a boy on his first night with a girl. "Someone wishes the city ill. Looks like I was right after all."

"Might even be someone in the city. For now, we can't trust anyone except each other. We should talk to the sheriff first, see why he let goblins into his city." Jack looked at his former opponents. "My name is Jack, Jack Steele."

"Hi there Jack. I'm Shara" Shara says while her eyes widen like a child receiving a gift. "Not quite as awesome as i dreamt it would be, adventuring that is". While she would never ever admit it, Shara was a little bit scared during combat. She is stuck in a strange city and just saw two apparent maniacs cutting the heads off aggresive goblins. Somehow though, she just wants to do it again.

She looks at Jack and thinks for a moment. "You know, we can't let anybody attack the city. These people are SO nice and there are lots of children here. We should definitely do something about this!" Anyone would notice that Shara is overly excited and just dying to experience more combat with these people.

"Jack, have you found anything?"

Glancing over at the young adventurer Shara and her companion.

"Shara, are you alright, lass?"

Jack regarded Shathys for a moment.
"Well Shathys, like I said, our best bet right now would be to start with the sheriff, find out why and how goblins were let through the sentries."

Just as Jack speaks, a great bloom of fire catches your attention. Though you can't see the source of the fire, the flames and smoke seems to be no more than a few houses away. The sound of goblin war songs can be heard from the same direction.

"Oh gods," someone screams, "They've found the fuel for the bonfire!"

"More of them? This is a full scale assault, someone's gone through great lengths to make this happen." Jack unsheathed his falchion again. "We must rally the militia and the guards." he took a look at Shara. "Unless you want to be surrounded by the buggers."

Shara nods at Jack, who in her head, has already taken on a leader role in the group. She keeps running towards the fire, worried about the citizens of Sandpoint and the horrible, smelly goblins.

As you rush through the streets, the true chaos of the situation becomes clear to you. Goblins are everywhere, chasing panicked villagers, fighting the militia, crashing through windows and destroying anything they come near. As you round a corner, a wall of heat halts you in your step. The air is thick with smoke, and the source is clear: a big cart laden heavy with wood - probably the fuel for the bonfires - is being consumed by fire. Massive flames stab the air like elemental spears, and beside it stands a cackling goblin with red, glowing eyes. It wields a scorched and blackened staff, and the goblin seems unaffected by the wild flames dancing around it.

Several stands with food and other wares are scattered around the wagon, and from among them, several other goblins emerge. They rush forward with torches and blades, gleefully setting light to anything that will catch. When the goblin at the burning wagon spots you, it points a scrawny finger at you and screams something in its guttural goblin tongue.

First up: Jack

Jack stares intensely at the crazy fire goblin, starts moving up towards him, gains momentum and again he's outlined by a sharp light and somehow he ends up behind the goblin without them reacting. Jack slashes the goblin's back, and with a snarl, his sword flashes again with a bright light that completely tears up the goblin's back leaving him bleeding, but still on his feet. Jack's eyes are now shining an almost divine light, completely removing his iris' and even the glass eye is so bright you can't tell the difference between the two. An aura of might excudes him, and a fixed smile that radiates, not malice or evil intent, but the joy of power and the hunt of prey.

As Jack's second attack slices down at the Goblin Pyromaniac, the little creature grabs one of its underlings by the scruff of the neck and shoves its face into the arc of Jack's sweeping blade. The blade cuts halfway through the goblin cutter's head, lodging itself in the creature's skull. The attack is blocked, but at the price of the underling's life.

In clearly thinking that the sorcererguy is the leader of the goblins Shara picks him as her target. As she did the last time she raises her hand, mumbles something in a strange language and a weird bolt of definite magic origin appears from the staff.

The magic bolt slams into the face of the Pyro Goblin and Shara smiles at him while whispering "That'll teach you".

The pyromaniac swings its staff in a wide arc, and a spray of fire knocks Shara's spell to the side, missing the pyromaniac but hitting the goblin warrior next to him.

Spoiler:

The first goblin warrior takes a step back, then rushes Jack, flailing its sword menacingly. Menacingly but without much effect.
The second goblin warrior gets a running start, then charges straight at Shara, screaming and cursing and completely forgetting to cut her.
The two remaining goblin cutters charge Shara as well, swinging their flaming torches as hard as they can. One of them manages bonk Shara upside the head, but bats the other goblin's attack out of the way as well.

POSTING FOR FRANCIS

Shathys seems to disappear for a moment, and when he returns, he's standing behind one of the goblins opposite Shara. One end of his spiked chain is wrapped around the throat of a goblin cutter, and with a quick pull, he violently tears its throat into bloody ribbons. The other end lashes out, catching the goblin warrior in the back and cutting a deep, bloody gash.
